  1. Introduction & Scope of Services
    Welcome to Africa Twin Safaris (africatwinsafaris.com). We are a licensed safari outfitter and professional hunting operation based in
    the Limpopo Province of South Africa, with premier hunting concessions in Botswana, Mozambique, and Namibia, as well as
    dedicated photographic safaris in Kruger National Park and marine/freshwater sportfishing charters.
    By booking a safari, paying a reservation deposit, signing a safari agreement, or utilizing the services provided by Africa Twin Safaris,
    you (the ‘Client’, ‘Hunter’, or ‘Guest’) agree to abide by the following Terms and Conditions, which form a binding legal contract
    between you and Africa Twin Safaris.
  2. Booking Reservations, Deposits & Payments
  • Reservation Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of -$1000per hunting client and US per non-hunting observer / photo safari guest
    is required to reserve and confirm safari dates. For specialized dangerous game (Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard) or cross-border
    concessions, additional permit/tag deposits may be required upon quotation.
  • Confirmation of Booking: No safari booking or date reservation is guaranteed until the required deposit has cleared in Africa Twin
    Safaris’ official bank account and a formal booking confirmation is issued.
  • Safari Balance Settlement: The balance of the safari daily rates and booked package fees is payable 30 days prior to arrival via
    international bank wire, or settled in camp upon arrival/departure by prior written agreement.
  • In-Camp Incidental Settlement: Additional trophy fees for extra animals taken or wounded, rifle hire, ammunition, souvenirs, and
    discretionary gratuities must be settled in camp prior to final departure.
  • Accepted Forms of Payment: International wire transfers (EFT/SWIFT), clean US Dollar cash bills (dated 2013 or newer), or credit
    card (subject to a standard 3.5% merchant card processing surcharge). Personal checks are not accepted in camp.
  • Currency & Price Adjustments: Published rates are quoted in US Dollars (USD) based on the exchange rate of the South African
    Rand (ZAR) at the time of printing. Africa Twin Safaris reserves the right to adjust rates should significant statutory tax increases or
    extreme currency fluctuations occur prior to deposit confirmation.
  1. Refund, Cancellation & Postponement Policy
    Planning an African safari involves reserving hunting concessions, private staff, professional hunters, lodging, and provincial
    government permits well in advance. Our cancellation policy is structured as follows:
  • Deposits are Non-Refundable: All booking deposits are strictly non-refundable upon payment.
  • Rescheduling Within Same Calendar Year: A client may reschedule their safari to alternate available dates within the same
    calendar year without penalty, provided written notice is submitted at least 60 days prior to the original start date.
  • Postponement to Subsequent Season: If a safari is rolled over to the following calendar year, a US postponement/rollover
    administrative fee per hunter applies. The booking will also be subject to prevailing price and trophy fee adjustments for the new
    season.
  • Cancellations Within 30 Days: Cancellations within 180 days of arrival forfeit 100% of the deposit. However, the client may transfer
    their booking and deposit to a qualified substitute hunter acceptable to Africa Twin Safaris.
  • No Refunds for Unused Safari Days: No refunds, credits, or fee adjustments are provided for late arrivals, missed days, or
    premature departures due to personal choices, medical emergencies, airline delays, or early trophy harvest.
  • Force Majeure: In the event of unforeseen catastrophic disruptions (border closures, travel bans, civil war, or government
    mandated travel halts), safari deposits will be held as credit toward future available dates without loss of funds.
  1. Hunting Ethics, Fair Chase & Wounded Game Policy
  • Professional Hunter Authority: Clients must strictly follow all safety, shooting, and ethical instructions issued by their licensed
    Professional Hunter (PH). Africa Twin Safaris reserves the right to immediately terminate any hunt without refund if a client exhibits
    unsafe firearm handling, hunting under the influence of alcohol/drugs, or disregard for conservation laws.
  • Wounded Game Policy (Shot and Lost): Under South African conservation legislation and PHASA ethical standards, any animal that
    is wounded, grazed, or draws blood is considered taken. The full trophy fee is payable in full, whether or not the animal is recovered.
    The PH and trackers will expend every reasonable effort, including tracking dogs, to locate the wounded animal.
  • 50% Unharvested Animal Refund (Rifle Packages): If an animal included in your prepaid rifle package is not taken during your
    scheduled safari, Africa Twin Safaris will refund or credit 75% of our published trophy fee list value for that animal. (This policy does
    NOT apply if the hunter was presented with reasonable opportunities and missed, or declined mature shootable animals
    recommended by the PH. Bow hunts and dangerous game hunts are strictly fair-chase effort and excluded from refunds.)
  1. Firearm Importation & Camp Rifle Hire
  • SAPS 520 Import Permits: Hunters bringing their own firearms into South Africa are responsible for obtaining a temporary import
    permit from the South African Police Service (SAPS 520) and passing customs clearance at OR Tambo International Airport
    (Johannesburg). Africa Twin Safaris will provide the required outfitter invitation letters upon deposit confirmation.
  • Camp Rifle Hire: For clients preferring not to travel with firearms, scoped hunting rifles are available for rent per day. Ammunition
    is charged per round used.
  • Safety Standards: Rifles must remain completely unloaded in safari vehicles and around camp at all times. Chambers may only be
    loaded when instructed by the PH in the field.
  1. Trophy Field Preparation, Taxidermy & Shipping
  • Included in Daily Rates: Field preparation of trophies (skinning, caping, salting) and complimentary transport of raw trophies to our
    approved local South African taxidermist are fully covered by your safari daily rates.
  • Excluded Third-Party Services: All subsequent processes
  1. Value Added Tax (VAT – 15%)
  • South African Tax Compliance: In accordance with South African Revenue Service (SARS) laws, 15% VAT is applicable to safari daily
    rates and domestic services. Trophy fees for animals exported out of South Africa through a licensed customs broker are exempt from
    VAT. Trophies processed or delivered within South Africa are subject to statutory VAT.
  1. Photographic Safaris & Sportfishing Charters
  • Kruger National Park: Guests on photographic safaris must adhere to all South African National Parks (SANParks) rules, gate
    curfews, and park ranger instructions.
  • Sportfishing Charters: Deep-sea fishing charters are weather-dependent. The licensed vessel skipper holds ultimate authority over
    marine safety and trip departures. Catch-and-release is encouraged on select sportfishing species.
  1. Mandatory Medical Evacuation & Travel Insurance
  • Compulsory Coverage: Wilderness safaris involve inherent remote travel risks. It is a mandatory booking requirement that all
    clients and companions secure comprehensive international travel, medical, and emergency evacuation insurance (e.g., Global
    Rescue, Ripcord, or equivalent). Africa Twin Safaris does not cover medical, hospital, or evacuation expenses.
  1. Limitation of Liability & Indemnity
  • Wilderness Risk Acceptance: Clients understand and accept that hunting, fishing, off-road driving, and encounters with dangerous
    wild animals (such as buffalo, lion, elephant, leopard, snakes, and marine life) carry inherent risks of injury, illness, or death.
  • Release of Liability: The Client indemnifies and holds harmless Africa Twin Safaris, its directors (Marnus van Rooyen, Ulrich van
    Rooyen), professional hunters, trackers, staff, and private land concession holders against any claims, losses, damages, or injuries
    sustained during the safari.
  • Waiver Form: All guests must sign the official Africa Twin Safaris Indemnity Waiver upon arrival in camp before participating in any
    field activities.
  1. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
  • South African Jurisdiction: These terms, contracts, and any disputes arising from your safari booking are governed exclusively by
    the laws of the Republic of South Africa and shall be adjudicated under the jurisdiction of the South African courts (Limpopo /
    Gauteng division).
