1. Payment Policy
All payments for safari bookings with Africa Twin Safaris are processed securely through Payfast, an established South African online payment platform.
Payment may be made using the payment methods made available through the Payfast checkout at the time of booking. Available payment methods may include credit and debit cards, Instant EFT, and other supported payment options.
A non-refundable booking deposit of USD 1,000 per hunting client and per non-hunting observer or photographic safari guest is required to secure the requested safari dates, unless otherwise specified in the client’s quotation.
Specialised dangerous game hunts, including Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, and Leopard, and hunts conducted in cross-border concessions may require additional deposits for permits, licences, tags, or other government or concession requirements. Any such additional amounts will be clearly specified in the client’s quotation.
A booking is not confirmed until the required payment has been successfully processed and Africa Twin Safaris has issued written confirmation of the booking.
All prices and charges will be clearly displayed before payment is completed.
2. Payment Confirmation
Once payment has been successfully processed through Payfast, the client will receive confirmation of the transaction and Africa Twin Safaris will process the booking accordingly.
A successful payment does not, by itself, constitute confirmation of a safari date unless the client has received a formal booking confirmation from Africa Twin Safaris.
If a payment is unsuccessful, declined, reversed, or otherwise not received, the booking will remain unconfirmed until the required payment has been successfully received.
3. Outstanding Balance
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the remaining balance of the safari booking must be paid no later than 30 days before the scheduled arrival date.
Africa Twin Safaris may require the outstanding balance to be paid through the Payfast payment system or another payment method specifically agreed with the client.
Failure to settle the outstanding balance within the required period may result in the cancellation of the booking and the application of the applicable cancellation charges.
4. Cancellation by the Client
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to Africa Twin Safaris.
The cancellation date will be determined by the date on which the written cancellation request is received.
Unless different terms have been agreed in the client’s quotation or booking agreement, the following cancellation policy applies:
- More than 180 days before arrival: The booking may be cancelled, but the initial deposit remains non-refundable.
- 180–91 days before arrival: The initial deposit remains non-refundable. Additional non-recoverable costs already incurred on behalf of the client may also be deducted.
- 90–31 days before arrival: Up to 50% of the total safari booking value may be retained, depending on costs already incurred.
- 30 days or less before arrival: 100% of the total confirmed safari booking value may be payable, and no refund will ordinarily be provided.
Where a specific safari quotation contains different cancellation terms, the cancellation terms contained in that quotation will apply.
5. Refund Policy
The initial safari deposit is non-refundable, except where Africa Twin Safaris agrees otherwise in writing or where a refund is required by applicable law.
Where a refund is approved, Africa Twin Safaris will generally process the refund through Payfast and, where applicable, to the original payment method used for the transaction.
Payfast supports both full and partial merchant refunds through its platform.
Any applicable non-refundable third-party costs may be deducted from the amount refunded. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Hunting permits and licences
- Government fees
- Concession fees
- Accommodation deposits
- Transportation costs
- Airline or transfer costs
- Special arrangements made on behalf of the client
- Other non-refundable third-party services
Refunds will generally be processed within 30 business days after the refund has been approved.
Any applicable Payfast processing or refund charges may be deducted from the refundable amount where permitted by applicable law.
6. Cancellation After Arrival
If a client cancels the safari after arrival, chooses to leave the safari early, does not participate in booked activities, or otherwise elects not to use the remaining services, the unused portion of the safari will not ordinarily be refundable.
This includes unused hunting days, accommodation, transfers, activities, meals, transportation, or other prepaid services.
Any exception will be considered by Africa Twin Safaris on a case-by-case basis and will depend on whether the associated costs can be recovered.
7. Cancellation by Africa Twin Safaris
If Africa Twin Safaris is required to cancel a confirmed safari due to circumstances within its reasonable control, the company will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative safari date or alternative arrangement.
If Africa Twin Safaris is unable to provide the agreed safari and no suitable alternative can be arranged, any refund will be handled in accordance with the client’s booking agreement and applicable law.
Where payments have already been made to third-party suppliers and those amounts are non-refundable, Africa Twin Safaris cannot guarantee recovery of those amounts.
8. Force Majeure
Africa Twin Safaris shall not be responsible for failure, cancellation, delay, or interruption of safari services resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
These circumstances may include, but are not limited to:
- Severe weather
- Natural disasters
- Floods or fires
- Government restrictions
- Changes in hunting regulations
- Border closures
- Civil unrest
- War or terrorism
- Epidemics or pandemics
- Strikes or industrial action
- Transportation disruptions
- Government or permit delays
- Other unforeseen circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Africa Twin Safaris
Where reasonably possible, Africa Twin Safaris will work with the client to reschedule the safari or provide suitable alternative arrangements.
9. Delivery of Safari Services
Africa Twin Safaris provides safari, hunting, photographic safari, accommodation, transportation, guiding, and related travel services rather than physical products.
The safari services will be delivered according to the confirmed itinerary, quotation, and booking confirmation issued to the client.
The safari service will be considered delivered when the agreed services are made available to the client in accordance with the confirmed itinerary.
Due to the nature of safari operations, certain aspects of the experience are subject to factors outside the control of Africa Twin Safaris. These may include weather conditions, wildlife behaviour, hunting conditions, conservation requirements, government regulations, road conditions, and operational circumstances.
Africa Twin Safaris therefore does not guarantee specific wildlife sightings, hunting success, trophy availability, weather conditions, or other outcomes unless expressly stated in writing.
10. Changes to the Safari Itinerary
Africa Twin Safaris reserves the right to make reasonable changes to an itinerary where necessary due to weather, wildlife conditions, conservation requirements, safety considerations, government regulations, operational requirements, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
Where a significant change is required, the client will be informed as soon as reasonably practicable.
Where possible, Africa Twin Safaris will provide a suitable alternative arrangement of a comparable nature.
Reasonable changes to the itinerary do not automatically entitle the client to a refund where the overall safari experience and agreed services remain substantially consistent with the confirmed booking.
11. Travel Delays and Missed Connections
Africa Twin Safaris is not responsible for additional costs resulting from:
- Flight delays or cancellations
- Missed flights or connections
- Lost or delayed baggage
- Visa or passport problems
- Border delays
- Airline disruptions
- Client-arranged transportation delays
- Other circumstances outside the control of Africa Twin Safaris
Unused safari days or services resulting from a client’s late arrival will not ordinarily be refunded.
Any additional accommodation, meals, transportation, transfers, or other expenses resulting from such delays will be for the client’s account unless otherwise agreed in writing.
12. Travel Insurance
Clients are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance before travelling.
Insurance should ideally provide cover for trip cancellation, trip interruption, medical expenses, emergency evacuation, travel delays, lost or delayed baggage, and other relevant travel risks.
Africa Twin Safaris accepts no responsibility for losses that should reasonably have been covered by the client’s travel insurance.
13. Third-Party Services
Certain services forming part of a safari may be provided by independent third parties, including airlines, accommodation providers, transport operators, concession owners, government authorities, and permit-issuing bodies.
Such services may be subject to the individual terms, cancellation policies, and refund conditions of the relevant third-party provider.
Africa Twin Safaris will make reasonable efforts to assist the client where a third-party service is disrupted or cancelled but cannot guarantee a refund of amounts that are non-refundable or non-recoverable from the third-party provider.
14. Policy Acceptance
By making a payment through Payfast and confirming a safari booking with Africa Twin Safaris, the client acknowledges that they have read, understood, and accepted the Payment, Refund, Cancellation and Safari Delivery Policy.
These policies should be read together with the client’s quotation, itinerary, booking confirmation, and any other written terms specifically agreed between the client and Africa Twin Safaris.
Where a specific written agreement contains terms that differ from this policy, the terms of that specific agreement will apply.
